Winnipeg, 24 September 2018 – There is a new board chair at the Canadian Food Innovators (CFI). Joe Lake of McCain Foods assumed the role at the organization’s annual meeting last week with Dr. Rotimi Aluko becoming the new vice chair.
“Canada has a real opportunity to leverage its strengths in agriculture and agri-food, particularly in the food processing innovation space,” says Lake, who coordinates McCain Foods’ NEXT program, a global innovation platform targeting transformational growth. “It’s an honour for me step into this leadership role with CFI and work with a team of food industry leaders to help move our sector forward.”
Lake is Manager, Global Sciences at McCain Foods. During his career, he has worked in various positions from the world of whales to the finer points of brewing yeast. He joined McCain Foods in 2009 and has held different technical management roles before taking on his current assignment in the company. CFI has engaged past chair Dave Shambrock from Food and Beverage Manitoba as its new Executive Director. Shambrock served as Chair of CFI since its inception in 2013, and was instrumental in the founding of Food and Beverage Manitoba.
